Terry began his Law Enforcement career on May 1st, 1977 in Denver, Iowa. He served there for 24 years as Police Chief and then transferred to the Bremer County Sheriffs Office in January of 2001 prior to retirement in 2019. He attended the DOT and began teaching DARE in 1992. In his last year he taught the Elementary and Jr. High program to over 550 students in Bremer County where he served as the SRO for 7 district schools providing services to students K-12. He was fortunate to be involved in the Pilots of the most recent curriculums as they were being written and also serves as a Mentor for the DARE Iowa Training Team since 2007. He is the past Iowa DARE Officer of the year and was President of the Iowa Chiefs & Peace Officers Association in 2000 where he continues to serve Officers across Iowa.
