Dear D.A.R.E. Officers,
It is a privilege to serve as President of the Iowa D.A.R.E.
Officers Association. Every day, our instructor's step into classrooms across
the state to guide, mentor, and support the next generation.
This year, our focus centers on the theme, "Safe Steps
Forward." Today’s youth face a rapidly changing world with complex
challenges, from social media pressure to modern substance threats. Through the
D.A.R.E. curriculum, we aren’t just teaching prevention; we are giving students
a practical roadmap. We give them the skills and confidence they need to
evaluate risks, make smart choices, and take safe steps forward throughout
their lives.
This theme applies to our officers, too. To keep our kids safe,
our strategies must constantly progress. I am excited to welcome you all to
this year’s Iowa D.A.R.E. Conference from July 18-20, 2027, at the
Waverly Area Veterans Post (WAVP) in Waverly, Iowa. This training event is our
opportunity to share proven ideas, learn updated instruction methods, and
ensure every officer returns home fully equipped to lead.
Our mission only succeeds because of the dedication of our
officers, the trust of our school partners, and the vital investment of our
communities. Together, we are helping Iowa’s youth navigate their futures with
confidence.
